Leaders Heap Praises on SonySugar Leadership at MD's Mother's Sendoff

Political leaders, farmers and residents of Awendo sugar belt heaped praises on the leadership of SonySugar led by the chairman of the board of directors Hon Jared Kopiyo and Managing Director Martine Dima, terming them as a godsend duo

The leaders who spoke during the burial of Mama Conslata Anyango Dima, the mother of SonySugar MD Mr Martine Dima, in Uriri Constituency, hailed the current leadership of the company which has turned around the fortunes of the government-owned miller.

Kuria West MP Hon Mathias Robi, Nandi Hills MP Hon Benard Kitur, and their Emgwen counterpart Hon. Josses Lelmengit Kiptoo, pledged to support legislations aimed at strengthening the company. “We will do everything within our powers to support SonySugar.” Said Hon Robi.

SonySugar delegation was led by Hon Jared Kopiyo and his board members Silas Jakakimba, Douglas Kailanya, Kipkoech Kirui, Mary Were, Catherine Wangamati and Laura Matiko. Hon Kopiyo appealed to the County Government of Migori to agree to an amicable resolution of the cess owed to them by SonySugar. He pledged to continue laying strategies which will eventually enable the company to pay farmers within a week.

Mr. Odondi Giyo, speaking on behalf of the farmers urged them to prioritize cane farming which he noted has once again become profitable in the region. The Awendo branch chairman of Kenya Union of Sugarcane Plantations and Allied Workers (KUSPAW), Tom Kongere, hailed the Board and Management for prudent management of finances and assets of the company.

Mama Conslata Anyango Dima was laid to rest in her home in Kanyodera village, North Kanyamkago Ward, Uriri Constituency in Migori Country. Several County officers, Interior administration, MCAs, and a battery of clergy attended.
