Managing Director Martine Dima Officially Reports to SonySugar

The newly appointed Managing Director Mr. Martine Ogolla Dima officially reported to the Company on Friday 17th May 2024. Mr. Dima was welcomed and introduced to the employees by the Chairman of the Board of Directors Hon Jared Kopiyo at the SonySugar Guest House Grounds during a Corporate Team Brief. In a notice signed by the Chairman, Mr. Dima takes over as the substantive Managing Director for three years with effect from May 17th, 2024. “You will be expected to lead the Management team to steer the Company in achieving set goals and objectives as shall be guided by the Board of Directors.” Read the notice.

In a colorful quarterly event that coincided with the new MD’s arrival, employees of SonySugar applauded the Board for giving the Company a substantive MD after eight years. Three previous MDs Bernard Otieno, Stephen Ligawa, and James Oluoch, held the position in an acting capacity.  Welcoming his appointment, Mr. Dima noted that he would not work as a boss but as a team leader. “I will lead a team of competent managers and dedicated staff to achieve our targets individually and collectively as a Company.” He said. Speaking to the staff and the media at the function, Hon Kopiyo appealed to the farmers to supply the Company with cane. He reiterated that as a resident of the area, he will rally his Board to steer the Company to greater heights of success. He was accompanied by Directors Eric Osenya, Laura Matiko, Douglas Kailanya, Mary Were, and  Catherine Wangamati.

The outgoing Managing Director, James Oluoch, thanked the Board, Management, staff, and the entire SonySugar fraternity for their overwhelming support during his short stint. He took over from Mr. Stephen Ligawa in February when the latter proceeded on leave. The meeting was also addressed by KUSPAW leadership led by the Awendo branch chairman Tom Kongere and branch secretary Jared Oluoch. PEFA church clergy, Rev. Dan Rangili, also an employee, was the chaplain of the day.
