SonySugar Sweeps Four Top Awards at the Migori ASK Show
South Nyanza Sugar Company Limited shone brightly at the South Western Kenya ASK Branch Show held in Migori town from 2nd to 5th October 2024. The show was officially opened on Friday by Kisii Governor Simba Atrati, flanked by Migori Governor Ochilo Ayacko and Homa Bay Deputy Governor Oyugi Magwanga, who represented Governor Gladys Wanga. The exhibitions attracted over 60 local and regional exhibitors from diverse entrepreneurial backgrounds from Migori, Homa Bay, Kisii, Nyamira and Narok counties.
SonySugar, the only sugar company to participate in the show, scooped four top trophies and two second-best positions in the competition categories entered. The company emerged as the best overall Agriculture stand after winning in the following categories: Best Sugar Industry stand, Best Agro-processing stand, Best Local Manufacturer stand (consumable) and The Government Stand that Best Interprets the Current Show Theme. The two second-best awards were on the stand that embraced ICT in Agriculture, and also the Second Most Striking Display.
Speaking during the official closure of the show on Saturday, sonySugar Managing Director Martine Dima who was the chief guest, represented by the Head of Agriculture Bon Odhiambo, commended ASK for aptly coining this year’s theme of climate-smart agriculture, noting that it will sustain the Agriculture sector and ensure sustainable economic growth. He called upon all players in our economy to tailor their strategies towards climate-smart agriculture and trade initiatives for sustainable economic growth.
The MD expressed his joy at the return of SonySugar to the ASK calendar. The company participated in the Kisumu Show in July for the first time since 2017 and was now at the Migori Show for the first time since 2018. Towards the end of September, SonySugar also exhibited under the AFA umbrella at the Nairobi International Trade Fair. Mr. Dima assured all the stakeholders that SonySugar will continue to operate optimally to support the economy of Migori County and Kenya.
